i know the arc is old news i know i am preaching to the converted but i had to express how i feel because most of my jw friends and family dont want to hear .
so this is how i feel.
i have faithfully served as a jehovahs witness for over 25 years..
It never ceases to amaze me how people just casually use the term 'Jehovah's People' as though there is even the tiniest shred of confirmable evidence that he chose any people at all.. that this group of cultists are the one's that he actually chose.. when one of their deranged leaders snatched some random scripture from a book written thousands of years ago by who knows who and bestowed it upon themselves..
If that's not the most nutty, presumptuous, delusions act of self self-aggrandising blind arrogance I really don't know what is
yesterday i had to listen to the co from a spanish congregation on the phone.
he said the fds has been gradually moving away from the word "worldly" and teaching jws not to use the term anymore.
has anyone heard this in their congregation or heard the term "non-believers" used before?
It doesn't seem outdated, as I still hear jw's use the term. I am still referred to as 'worldly' by some of my husband's family. I was so naive back in the day, I didn't realize it was a derogatory term. I remember when I was introduced some would ask what congregation I was in and my sister-in-law would answer for me and say 'she's not in the truth, she's in the world'. Once I figured out it was meant as a criticism I hated the term
i have been lurking here for about 6 months, and being the last day of the year, and ready to start the new one afresh, i want to share the story of our exit from the org.
i have found the personal experiences of others of immeasurable value, (and its been a while since a good exit story has been posted) that i hope this can be of benefit to at least someone.. .
my mother became a jehovahs witness when i was about 9 or 10. i remember initially hating all of the new sanctions put on our lives (no birthdays and christmas anymore) but for some reason i soon after joined her in attending the meetings and eventually got baptized at the age of 14. my staunch catholic father converted a couple of years later.
What a great post! Your story is inspiring and gives me hope that maybe my situation will also have a happy ending. Thank you for sharing it
Wishing you a very happy new year - I hope your 2016 is the best yet!
inspiring, funny...you choose.... i'll start with inspiring: .
frodo: i wish the ring had never come to me.
i wish none of this had happened.gandalf: so do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide.
The late great Robin Williams with Nathan Lane in Birdcage
Armand: I'm sweating like some kind of farm animal!
and
Armand: All right, I'll bite, where are you going?
Albert: To Los Copa.
Armand: Los Copa? There's nothing in Los Copa but a cemetery.
Albert: I know, that's why I'm packing light.
Armand: Oh I see, so you're going to a cemetery with your toothbrush...... How Egyptian.
Hilarious movie - recommend watching if you're in the mood for lots of laughs. Williams and Lane are brilliant together
people have varied and strong feelings about politics and wars, but you can't deny the courage a sacrifice of our veterans.
too often they do not get the honor they deserve.
in this country once they come home their sacrifice and heroism is too quickly forgotten.
yesterday was my granddaughters 2nd birthday.
they had a party for her.
i bought a gift which she loved.
Love hearing stories like this. So glad you and your family had such a special day. Wishing your grand daughter a lifetime of happy b-days!
So stupid that the gb tells kids that it makes jah sad when kids have fun celebrating their b-days.

"would you do absolutely anything which the governing body instructed you to do?
for example, sell your home and possessions, move in with another witness, and send all your money to the org?".
if 'no', they're showing that they will pick and choose which org directives they will follow.
what is it like to have that one true friend?
growing up in the org, i never really had friends.
i had many acquaintances, some of which were worldly.
Can you be married, live in the same house and be lonely? Yes!
I agree. In my house it is for the same reason as yours. Once I told my spouse I had no interest in being a jw I was tattled on and thrown under the bus. It got ugly!
Do you have any non-jw family? Would there be any way you could re-connect with some of the friends you used to have? It may take awhile to develop the close friendship that you seek, however, it is worth the effort! I have a friend that I can confide anything in. I will always have her back and she will always have mine. The friendship is not conditional on the two of us agreeing on religion.
